I m Bac!!!

(Guest post by Vineet V Nair)

It’s been ages since I have posted something here..sorry brother I haven’t been a regular guest blogger. I am just plain lazy most of the time and how much ever you coax me into starting my own blog, I love being a guest blogger here. It gives me a choice, an option.

A small introduction to all those who know me and for those who don’t . I am varun’s younger brother… right now in London training (u can read trying also) to be a chef(someday for sure). I was in Vishakapatnam for nearly a year working with The Park Hotel managing their beachside restaurant called Bamboo Bay. I was also in Navi Mumbai for 6 months undergoing training with The Park, Belapur. Navi Mumbai is one of the best places I have lived so far, obviously apart from aapnu Ahmedabad. It was majorly because I was just 2 hours from Mumbai where Varun lived and I loved the hustle bustle than came with living in Mumbai . Even though Mumbai is one of the most crowded cities in the world, Navi Mumbai is so just the opposite. Calm and quiet with just enough shopping malls, cheap eateries etc. I lived in an awesome 2 bedroom flat which I shared with another guy called Azhar. A balcony as big as 2 10 by 10 bedrooms put together and bedrooms with huge sliding windows. I have had one of my craziest birthdays here.  I loved local trains. The journeys from borivili to belapur were always the time to think..so many things… Navi Mumbai is the place where I met one of my closest friends ;-) …the wink is necessary…Rains were always amazing here. Me and Azhar moved into this flat by chance but both of us loved living here. We were a small group of friends who would rent a car and travel to Mumbai every weekend or atleast every fortnight to party, wake up at 3 in the afternoon and talk about the party for the rest of week.. I would always love to work in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai but never settle down here (just like varun).

more to come….

Being Twenty-Something

…Its really hard.

They call it the “Quarter-Life Crisis”. It is when I stop going along with the crowd and start realizing that there are many things about me that I didn’t know and may not like. I start feeling insecure and wonder where I will be in a year or two, but then get scared because I barely know where I am now.

I start realizing that people are selfish and that maybe, those friends that I thought were so close to me aren’t exactly the greatest people I have ever met, and the people I have lost touch with are some of the most important ones. What I don’t recognize is that they are realizing that too, and aren’t really cold, catty, mean, or insincere but that they are as confused as I am.

I look at my job (part time)… and it is not even close to what I thought I would be doing, or maybe I am looking for a job and realizing that I am going to have to start at the bottom and that scares me. My opinions have gotten stronger. I see what others are doing and find myself judging more than usual because suddenly I realize that I have certain boundaries in my life and am constantly adding things to the list of what is acceptable and what isn’t. One minute, I am insecure and then the next, secure.

I laugh and cry with the greatest force of my life. I feel alone and scared and confused. Suddenly, change is the enemy and I try and cling on to the past with dear life, but soon realize that the past is drifting further and further away, and there is nothing to do but stay where I’m or move forward.

I’m heart broken and wonder how someone I loved could do such damage to me. Or lay in bed and wonder why I can’t meet anyone decent enough to get to know better. Or maybe I love someone but love someone else too and cannot figure out why I’m doing this because I know that I’m not a bad person.

One night stands and random hookups start to look cheap. GETTIN WASTED AND ACTING LIKE AN IDIOT STARTS TO LOOK PATHETIC. I go through the same emotions and questions over and over, and talk with my friends about the same topics because I cannot seem to make a decision. I worry about loans, money, and the future and making a life for myself… and while winning the race would be great, right now i’d just like to be a contender!

What I just realize is that everyone reading this relates to it or related to it once. We are in our best of times and worst of times, trying as hard as we can to figure this whole thing out.

NOTE: This is not completely an original piece. I got this as a forward some time back but I could relate to it so much it’s as if I had written it myself. It is not identical to the forward I got because there is a lot of me in there, especially towards the end. I will try to find out the original author of this piece and give credit to him/her but that will have to wait for some time since I have my exams going on right now. Bye!

Vineet makes his blogging debut!

Vineet in Nimes
Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce my brother Vineet who is going to make his blogging debut in a few minutes. Some of you know him from the real world, some of you know him from my blog. But all of will, I am sure, enjoy what he has to say.

He is also the first guest blogger to star on my blog. The next post will be by “da man” himself. Welcome Vineet!

Bangalore weekend – Short post

Bangalore Trip Photos
Landed up in Bangalore on Saturday morning. Met up with Pratik, Gunjan, Moin, Subodh (Potli), Steve and Vineet. Went to a a few good places on Brigade Street (Alibi, Guzzlers and Corner House). Met Pratik’s friends and Vineet’s friends. Then moved onto Palace grounds for the Iron Maiden concert.

Parikrama was nice, Lauren Harris were OK (crowd booed them but somehow I liked their music) but Iron Maiden were awesome. The atmosphere was electric and crazy. Had lot of fun. Was terribly tired with legs aching.

Moved onto Pebbles, a nice pub near Palace grounds. My brother was bartending there… this is the first time I have seen him bartending. Was nice. Felt very proud. Have always known him to be a good chef and bartender but this was the first time I am seeing him bartending. Enjoyed with friends.

Then went to Java City, a nice cafe at the end of Church Street. Met up with Vineet’s gang. Full of nice and weird people. Nice people are always weird. At least in my friends’ circle they are.

Then came back to Pratik’s house. Had a nice hot bath and simply crashed. Woke up around an hour back. Gang is now going to a place called Samarkand on Infantry Road. Over and out for now.
